South Carolina SEO
Because customers in Fort Mill don't search for South Carolina
South Carolina SEO is really five or six local jobs wearing one name. A homeowner in Mount Pleasant searches Mount Pleasant. A Tega Cay customer searches Tega Cay, or Fort Mill, and never the state. We do SEO for small businesses and contractors across South Carolina from Charlotte, just up I-77 from York County, and we run live sites for a Mount Pleasant painter and the Charleston Harbor tour crew behind two booking sites. Plans start at $499 a month.
Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 Eastern. Our AI receptionist answers, takes your details, and the team calls you back.

How Google picks who shows up in a South Carolina town
Google Business Profile Help says local results are ranked on relevance, distance and prominence. In plain terms: does your profile and site say you do this work in this town, how far are you from the person searching, and how well known are you online (reviews, listings, links, mentions).
Distance is the one you can't change. It is measured from wherever the customer is standing. The other two are the work, and they are the same work in Rock Hill as in Summerville.
The five South Carolina markets and the page for each
York County: Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Lake Wylie
The closest part of the state to us, and the one where we meet in person when it helps. York County searches like its own place, so a site here names Rock Hill and Fort Mill both, plus Tega Cay, Lake Wylie and Indian Land across the county line. Details on the Rock Hill and Fort Mill page.
Charleston and the Lowcountry
Customers search by the town or island they live on: Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island, James Island, West Ashley, Summerville. Business owners here also search for SEO more than anywhere else in the Carolinas on our list. "SEO Charleston SC" runs around 720 searches a month across the two states, against about 50 for the statewide phrase. Our Charleston clients are LowCountry Coastal Excursions, Charleston Shark Teeth Hunting and Palmetto Painting Contractors. See the Charleston page.
Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand
Year-round residents and visitors search side by side here, and seasonal hours on your Google Business Profile matter more than in any other market. North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach and Conway search under their own names. See the Myrtle Beach page.
Greenville and the Upstate
Greer, Simpsonville, Mauldin and Spartanburg each search separately, so a Greenville site that only says Greenville misses half its county. See the Greenville page.
Columbia and the Midlands
Lexington County customers in Irmo, Chapin and West Columbia rarely type Columbia. A Midlands site names both sides of the river. See the Columbia page.
What the South Carolina SEO plans include
Grow, $499 a month: Google Business Profile optimization, 3 backlinks a month, 2 blog posts a month about your trade and your towns, 10 tracked keywords, and the basics of AI search visibility. Up to 12 pages.
Lead, $999 a month: 6 backlinks, 8 posts, 20 tracked keywords, a page for each South Carolina town you want work from, social posting and the full AI search strategy. Up to 17 pages plus town pages.
Care, $199 a month, keeps the site and profile current but has no backlinks, so it won't move rankings much on its own. No site yet? $399 designs and launches five pages, free mockup first. The full breakdown of what we do each month is on the local SEO services page.
Where your South Carolina license goes
If you hold a South Carolina contractor license, homeowners can look the number up on the state board's site (the Contractor's Licensing Board at SC LLR). So the number belongs in your footer, on your about page and beside the quote form. If you also work across the line in North Carolina, say which license covers which state. It is one of the few trust signals a customer can check in thirty seconds.
A South Carolina site we rebuilt
Palmetto Painting Contractors is an owner-operated house painter in Mount Pleasant. The old site was a small Wix build. With ByteZero we rebuilt it as a 33-page site with service pages, area pages and real project pages, and it launched October 6, 2026. The Palmetto Painting Contractors case study has the page map.

Do you have to be in South Carolina to do SEO there?
No. The work is your Google Business Profile, your pages and your listings, all of which happens online. York County is a short drive, and we meet there in person when it helps.
How long does SEO take in South Carolina?
Months rather than weeks. Smaller towns and specific services usually move first. Nobody can promise a ranking or a date, and we don't.
Can one website rank in several South Carolina towns?
Yes, when each town you care about is named where it matters and the biggest ones get a page of their own. Town pages are what the Lead plan adds.
How much does SEO cost in South Carolina?
With us, $499 a month on Grow or $999 on Lead. Care at $199 keeps the site and profile current without backlinks.
I work in both Carolinas. Does that complicate SEO?
Not much. We name the towns on each side of the line, set your Google Business Profile service area to cross it, and list each license with the state it covers.
